Car Crash Kills Channahon Man On Friday
This is the office of Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers reporting the death of Michael W. Thrasher a 36 year old Channahon man who was pronounced deceased at 12:10am Friday July 19th, 2024, at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center. Mr. Thrasher was involved in a motor vehicle crash on northbound I-55 near Channahon. The Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. An autopsy was performed on Friday July 19th 2024. Final cause and manner will be determined following Autopsy, Police and Toxicological reports.

Chemical release from Will County plant prompts large emergency response
The release of a volatile chemical led to a large emergency response on Saturday at a plant in unincorporated Will County, authorities said. At around 11:38 a.m., the Channahon Fire Protection District was called to INEOS Styrenics for a hazardous material incident, the fire district said in a news release. Fire crews arrived to facility employees attempting to cool a large container of approximately 5,000 gallons of styrene. Styrene is a liquid used to create polystyrene, a solid plastic.

The situation is contained, and there are no threats to the community. Currently, there are no evacuation advisories, and I-55 remains open in both directions. Authorities advise avoiding the area until the incident is fully resolved.

Pedestrian killed in crash on Bishop Ford Freeway in Chicago suburb
CHICAGO (CBS) — A fatal crash shut down southbound lanes on the Bishop Ford Freeway in suburban South Holland early Monday morning. According to Illinois State Police, a pedestrian was crossing 159th Street after a previous accident when they were hit and killed by a car around 2:30 a.m.The vehicle involved in the crash stayed on the scene. All southbound lanes reopened around 8 a.m.
