Water Woes in North Carolina, 6 Rivers Fail Fecal Bacteria Tests Near Washington and Bath

A report by Sound Rivers, an organization that monitors water quality, shows that six river sites failed their weekly fecal bacteria tests. Notably, sites such as Havens Gardens in Washington and Bonner Point in Bath showed elevated levels of fecal bacteria, which poses a risk for gastrointestinal diseases and skin infections.

All-way stop signs added throughout the county, weather dependent construction for Duplin County intersections
Three separate intersections within the county are adding all-way stop signs. NCDOT officials tell us they decided to make changes to traffic patterns by installing stop signs and pavement markings to three separate areas within the county. Installation of stop signs are commencing to make changes to the traffic, said NCDOT officials. This update will slow down commuters but should increase safety precautions. As of Tuesday this week, crews have started to install stop signs at NC 11 at Charity Road and NC 11 at Register Road and Stocking Head Road. On July 30, the current intersection of Charity Road at Bay Road will become an all-way stop.
