Iowa football will be here in one week, that is right let me say it again. Iowa. Football. Is. Back. The joys and pitfalls of watching football are within our grasp and I for one am excited to see what the Hawkeyes have in store this season. Cade McNamara has been the starting quarterback, the offensive line is being finalized, the running back group is as strong as ever, and the wide receiver room will hopefully follow suit.

The NCAA could be making changes to the transfer portal windows
According to multiple reports, the NCAA is considering getting rid of the spring transfer portal window. If this is approved, there would only be about a month, from December 9th to January 7th, for players to choose to attend a different school. Honestly, this makes plenty of sense, as I believe that the NCAA rushed through adopting the new transfer rules.
Time is Running Out on the Unclaimed $500,000 Iowa Lottery Ticket
The winner of a massive lottery prize has less than a month to claim it before a six-figure piece of paper effectively becomes worthless. Back in March, a Powerball ticket was purchased at a Kwik Star, located at 1502 South Federal Avenue, in Mason City, IA. That ticket proved to be a lucky one, as it's now worth $500,000. The prize will expire if unclaimed by the September 12th deadline.
See What Archeologists in Iowa Unearthed After 13,600 Years
It's nice to see these coming out of the ground like this. Archaeologists in Iowa have made a significant discovery with the unearthing of a well-preserved mastodon skull, dating back approximately 13,600 years. This find, located in the southern part of the state, is Iowa’s first notable mastodon and includes several bones primarily from the skull. The timing of this mastodon’s life aligns with the era when the first humans were inhabiting the region. I wonder if this mastodon knew the Flintstones.

Mother Nature has at least one more hot weekend in store for Iowans this summer. So, if you're headed to a beach to cool down, don't forget to check water quality reports before you head out. Wondering how can you check up on water monitoring, beach classifications and know what locations are open...
