Help celebrate Independence Day in Marble Falls Subhead City to host first patriotic parade Beverly Walker Contributing Writer Fri, 06/28/2024 - 03:28 Image Body

“We are preparing for our inaugural 4th of July Parade on Thursday, July 4th, through our historic Downtown Marble Falls and we need you and your organization to participate to make this a great first year!"

So says Daulton Mobley, manager of the Parks and Recreation Department, who reached out to various organizations around town.

He also released a schedule of the events planned for the annual Independence Day celebration, hosted by the city of Marble Falls.

The invitation calls for all the community to participate in America’s birthday party within two local parks and with the parade through downtown Marble Falls.

The parade will launch the celebrations early Thursday morning. Mobley estimates that the Light Up parade during Christmas last year brought 7,000 people to downtown Marble Falls and hopes, with the help of the public and local organizations, to meet those numbers this year.

Organizers encourage the public and organizations to sign up and participate in the parade.

Mobley stated, “You can decorate a trailer, ride in your golf cart, march your way down the street, ride your horse, or ride in a cool vehicle.”

Also noted was an announcement for those venturing downtown. Streets will be closed at 6 a.m., and the parade will stage and start at Johnson Park, 230 Ave. J, at 6:30 a.m. (in deference to the mid-day heat), then head north towards downtown and Main Street.

The total distance of the parade is .58 of a mile. The judging for best float will be at 7:30 a.m. and the parade will officially start at 9 a.m.

Later in Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Dr., the city offers live music with Dysfunkshun Junkshun, food vendors, free swim- ming and fireworks af ter dark.

For more information and to register for the parade, visit marblefallsrecreation. com or call the parks and recreation department at 830-798-6250.
