Marble Falls City Council will convene for a budget workshop 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, in City Hall, 800 Third Street.

During the workshop, council members will discuss various items related to Fiscal Year (FY) 2025, set to begin Oct. 1.

The session is open to the public, City Finance Director Jeff Lazenby told The Highlander.

“Only one budget workshop is planned,” Lazenby said.”There will be public hearings on both the budget and the setting of the tax rate.”

During the workshop, council members plan to discuss several elements related to FY 2025, including the general, utility, special revenue and capital projects funds, as well as recommendations forwarded by the Capital Improvement Plan and Hotel Motel Tax Advisory committees.

Also, the council plans to consider budgets for the Marble Falls Economic Development Corporation, the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No.1 and “outside agency funding requests.”

According to figures released last week by the Burnet Central Appraisal District, the city of Marble Falls now holds adjusted taxable property valued at more than $1.552 billion, about 9% above last year.

Recently, the Texas Municipal Advisory Council disclosed the city accumulated outstanding debt at $37.2 million through July 1, more than $5,000 per resident out of a population of more than 7,400 – with final debt payoff scheduled for 2053.
