Former Hannibal Fire Chief and Father Indicted for Allegedly Stealing Go-Kart Proceeds
(WNY News Now) – New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Oswego County District Attorney Anthony J. DiMartino, Jr., and the New York State Police announced the indictment of former Hannibal Fire Chief Chris Emmons and his father Carl Emmons Sr., a volunteer firefighter, for allegedly stealing nearly $14,500 from the fire company.
Fatal accident involving Homer man under investigation (Cayuga County)
A fatal motor vehicle accident that involved a Homer man is currently under investigation, according to a report. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s report stated that on Friday (July 19) at about 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Atwood Road at the intersection of Frazier Road in the town of Sempronius.

Annsville, N.Y. — A tornado touched down in a rural section of Oneida County last week as severe thunderstorms swept through the region, officials said. The tornado descended at 3:19 p.m. last Tuesday in the town of Annsville and was on the ground for about 11 minutes, according to a statement released Monday evening by the National Weather Service’s Binghamton office.
Rome residents can soon apply for money from $1 million-plus recovery fund
Rome, N.Y. — Rome residents harmed by severe thunderstorms and a tornado that plowed through the city last week can soon apply to a recovery fund, officials said. About $175,000 has already been raised for the Rome Victims Recovery Fund, according to Anthony Picente Jr., the Oneida County executive. The county plans to contribute $1 million, he said.

Cicero, N.Y. — A restaurant that combined a quirky diner, a classic sports pub, a pizzeria and one of Upstate New York’s best-known wing brands has closed permanently. The Cicero Eatery at 7785 Frontage Road closed Sunday, said Robb Bidwell, who owns the business with partner Doug Balle. It opened in 2021 as a second location for Armory Square’s Modern Malt diner, then transitioned to the Cicero Eatery in March 2023.
