COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – As Ohio sustains its leadership role as one of the states at the forefront of building an electric vehicle infrastructure, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced Tuesday that two more fast-charging stations have gone online in the state.

The money for the quick-charging stations came from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

The newest NEVI stations are located at Casey’s Gas and Convenience near Interstate 75 and National Road near Lima and Pilot Travel Center near I-71 and state Route 61 in Marengo. Both locations have four ports with at least 150 kW, capable of charging four electric vehicles simultaneously in around 30 minutes.

“Bringing two more fast-charging stations online is the latest milestone in Ohio’s rapid progress towards building a reliable charging network for electric vehicle drivers today and into the future,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Ohio was the first state in the nation to open an electric vehicle fast-charging station funded by the NEVI program late last year.

In addition to the three stations that are now open, 13 are currently under construction with several locations to go online in the coming weeks. Another 29 are in the planning phase and should be built in 2025.

Ohio is expected to receive $140 million total to deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The Youngstown area has 32 electric vehicle charging stations with 87 ports. You can find those locations online.
