(Keystone, Colo.) The Keystone Resort base area is getting its first ski-in, ski-out hotel and condominium building.

Kindred Resort broke ground Monday just steps from the ski area’s gondola in River Run Village. The project will have a Rock Resorts-branded hotel with 107 rooms and 95 residences with one to four bedrooms.

“I’ve spent the last 30 years in the hospitality and real estate development in Colorado,” said Shervin “Shevy” Rashidi, founding principal of Kindred Resort. “I chose Keystone as my home because it is a very special place where I get to work and play while raising my family. To have the unique opportunity to develop this incredible base area makes me very proud. The completion of this project will truly put Keystone in the top rankings of the best mountain communities in the world.”

With more than $100 million in preconstruction sales, 60% of the residences at Kindred Resort are under contract. The residential portion of the development has broken Summit County records for the highest dollar-per-square-foot sales in history.

The residences will include upscale finishes throughout the property. Each residence has a private balcony and mountain views.

Amenities at Kindred Resort include a private ski club with ski valet services and retail space, including three restaurants. It also will feature a 250-person indoor event space and multiple outdoor event spaces, a full-service spa and hair salon, fitness center, outdoor pool and hot tubs, Kid’s Club and Keystone’s Ski and Ride School.

“I grew up in Colorado and have always had a great connection with the outdoors, mountains and community,” said Ryan Geller, a partner with the Kindred Resort development team. “After attending Cornell University’s hotel school and growing throughout my professional career, I have been able to bring my passion for Colorado and love of the resort lifestyle to the Kindred project.”

The Kindred Resort development team’s founding members include Rashidi, Geller, Scott Russell, Jen Alvarado Geller and Jeff Geller, who all have decades of development and hospitality experience.

“I have enjoyed developing projects in the history-filled ski resort towns that are so important to the Colorado economy,” Russell said. “Being part of the Hotel Jerome redevelopment in Aspen confirmed for me the importance of creating a luxury experience within a historic setting. Kindred Resort is a landmark property that will provide a similar luxury experience designed to connect with the history of Keystone.”
