Texas Roadhouse opened its doors in 1993. The American steakhouse chain has 655 locations in the United States and 22 restaurants in nine other countries.

Texas Roadhouse serves Texan and Southwestern cuisine, including hand-cut steaks, ribs, chicken, and seafood, along with homemade sides.

Following retirement in 2017, a Franklin, Virginia couple made it their mission to eat at every Texas Roadhouse location in the United States. So far, Mike and Judy McNamara have eaten at 437 of the 655 Texas Roadhouses. As of July 2024, the couple has dined at Texas Roadhouse locations in every state except Alaska.

The couple told NewsNation that when planning trips to museums and national parks, they check to see if a Texas Roadhouse is nearby. They recently returned from a trip to 25 Texas Roadhouse locations.

    The couple's favorites

The McNamaras always prefer sirloin steak, herb chicken, pulled pork, pork chops, and ribs with a side salad.

    Judy McNamara told WHBF-TV:

"The food is like home cooking to us. We don’t like fancy cuisine or fine dining. Texas Roadhouse fits the bill of good, country home cooking and is family-oriented."

Mike McNamara estimated he and his wife eat at about 65 to 70 different locations every year.

    Mike McNamara told NewsNation:

"It’s good food. It’s more like home cooking to us. And as time has gone by, it’s not just the food. It’s also the people who work at the restaurants. They are a very big family of employees."
