Big Lots closing two stores in Virginia

Big Lots, the discount retailer, plans to close as many as 40 of its 1,392 stores, but only two of Virginia's 42 locations will be affected, according to Patch.

WRIC 8 News indicated that those two stores set to close are the Fredericksburg Big Lots at 736 Warrenton Road along with the Manassas Big Lots at 7743 Sudley Road.

By knowing this information, customers in those two areas can begin now to stock up on items before the end of the year.

Reason for the closures

The closings are scheduled because federal Securities and Exchange Commission stated that there is a "significant likelihood" that it will not be able to meet the terms of a credit agreement.

Last month, Big Lots reported a net loss of $205 million for the first quarter of fiscal year 2024.
