Richmond-area Verizon Wireless retailers giving away backpacks

Richmond-area Verizon Wireless retailers will give away hundreds of free backpacks on Sunday, July 28 at 1 p.m. This is a one-day effort to help families when their children return to school this year.

About 42% of U.S. parents say they will go into debt to pay for their children’s back-to-school items. Therefore, this event will help all those who show up for a free backpack.

With backpacks being a higher ticket item on the school supplies list and the average cost of supplies for families being around $890, Round Room hopes to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with the back-to-school season for the local families they serve.

About Round Room

Verizon-authorized retailer Round Room is hosting its 12th Annual “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” event to help families.

Round Room is expected to give over $3M worth of backpacks to children at over 1,000 of its stores nationwide.

Any leftover backpacks at “School Rocks Backpack Giveaway” events will be donated to local schools of each store’s choice.

Since the event’s inception, Round Room has been able to provide more than 1.3 million children with a backpack.
