Virginia's Latitude Seafood Co. Happy Hour menu includes more than discounted drinks

Many restaurants and bars hold Happy Hours, typically between 4 and 8 p.m., to allow workers to relax after a hectic day and to get more people in the doors during a slower part of the day.

"Happy Hour is a marketing term for a time when a venue such as a restaurant or bar offers reduced prices on alcoholic drinks. Discounted menu items like appetizers are often served during happy hour. This is a way for bars and restaurants to draw in more business before or after peak business hours."

The price is right

From 3 until 6:30 p.m. every weekday, noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Latitude offers half-priced spirited beverages. During Happy Hour, all wines, beers, and liquor with one mixer are also half off.

Latitude doesn’t offer a discount on a glass of inferior house wine. During Happy Hour, the restaurant offers about 67 varieties of wine at half off, as well as nearly 50 different beers. Craft cocktails are not discounted, but the bartenders can do some amazing things with 14 handcrafted cocktails.

During Happy Hour, several of Latitude's delicious appetizers are reduced to only $7. These include raw or steamed oysters, calamari, Hellfire Shrimp Dip, and their sensational salmon dip.

• Monday night is Flounder Night, with stuffed flounder and mashed potatoes for $10.
