Door-to-door scam in Richmond, Virginia

WRIC 8 News reported that the Richmond Police Department is warning residents about a door-to-door scam going on in the city.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, Richmond police called it an old-fashioned scam. While all of Richmond might be targeted, the recent scam has been witnessed mainly in the West End neighborhood.

About the scam

Police confirmed that there was a fraudulent individual going door-to-door asking for charity donations for a “reading program.”

Richmond Police Department encourages residents to research organizations before donating to them.

Police are advised to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity in their community.
