Two new snow leopard cubs were born at Metro Richmond Zoo

Two new snow leopard cubs were born to parents Elsa and Nitro at the Metro Richmond Zoo on April 28, 2024. The zoo is happy to introduce Elsa and Nitro’s 5th litter.

About the snow leopard cubs

The Metro Richmond Zoo announced that at five days old, the female snow leopard cubs weighed only 1.5 pounds, but now at four months old, Sasha and Kira weigh nearly 13 pounds.

Sasha and Kira are the fluffiest and most adorable snow leopard cubs at the zoo. They have a lot of energy and love playing, climbing, jumping, and wrestling. Sasha is "shy but super sassy," and Kira is "more adventurous."

The Metro Richmond Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals representing 190 species from around the globe. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the public can see the two newest snow leopard cubs, Sasha and Kira along with their parents.
