Richmond Public Schools

Richmond Public Schools (RPS) has a calendar that lists the first day of school as Monday, August 19, 2024, and also notes that RPS will be closed on Labor Day weekend (August 30–September 2).

Chesterfield Public Schools

The first day of school for Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) in for the 2024–2025 year varies by grade level:

• Pre-K and kindergarten: August 19–20 or August 21–22, depending on the school. Students will attend school on a staggered schedule during the first week to get used to their surroundings in smaller classrooms. Starting August 23, all pre-K and kindergarten students will attend school daily.
• Grades 1–5: August 21
• Grades 6 and 9: August 21
• Grades 7–8 and 10–12: August 19

Henrico Public School

According to the Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) calendar, the first day of school for 2024-2025 is Monday, August 19, 2024. The schools will be closed for Labor Day holiday from August 30 through September 2.

Hanover Public Schools

The first day of school for Hanover County Public Schools (HCPS) for the 2024–2025 year is Monday, August 19 for students in kindergarten, first grade, sixth grade, and ninth grade. The first day for all other students is on Tuesday, August 20.
