    2024-2025 enrollments in four metro Richmond schools

    Students returned to schools in the metro Richmond area on Monday, August 19, 2024 for school year 2024-2025.

    Below are the four metro Richmond schools with the highest to the lowest enrollment.

    Chesterfield County Public Schools

    Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) has a high enrollment of about 64,000 students in 68 schools. The student-teacher ratio is 14.13

    There are 40 elementary schools (grades K-5), 12 middle schools (grades 6-8), and ten high schools (grades 9-12). High school students can also enroll in 13 specialty centers, two technical centers, one career academy, and two Governor's Schools.

    Henrico County Public Schools

    Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) has an enrollment of about 54,000 students.

    There are 72 total schools and program centers, 46 elementary schools, 12 middle schools, nine high schools, three Advanced Career Education Centers, three alternative program centers, and a virtual academy.

    The pupil-teacher ratio at the elementary level is 19.1, while at the high school level, it is 18.3.

    Richmond Public Schools

    Richmond Public Schools (RPS) has about 22,000 students in grades preschool through 12.

    The district has 54 schools, including 25 elementary schools, seven middle schools, five comprehensive high schools, three specialty schools, and five preschool centers. The student-teacher ratio is 18:1.

    Hanover County Public Schools

    Hanover County (HCPS) has the lowest enrollment of about 17,000. The district has 26 schools, including 15 elementary, four middle, and four high schools, one trade and technology center, one K–12 online school, and one alternative education school.
