Yelp lists Bookbinder's Seafood & Steakhouse as a favorite fine dining restaurant at 2306 East Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia 23223.

    One reviewer said:

“A Richmond icon, always consistent. The food is delicious, the ambiance wonderful, the staff very friendly and knowledgeable.”

Some people, especially those from out of town, think the name has to do with books and their care. However, the iconic fine dining restaurant is named after its previous owners, Samuel and Sarah Bookbinder.

The restaurant was passed to the Bookbinder children until the Depression era. Then, it was owned by John Taxin and his family, who helped earn Bookbinder’s the distinction as one of America's oldest continuous seafood restaurants. The Taxin family still operates the Bookbinder's restaurant in Richmond, Virginia.
