Stella's Restaurant has been around since 1982. It is one of Richmond's most popular restaurants, serving delicious Greek cuisine.

About Stella Dikos and Stella's Restaurant

In the 1950s, at the age of nineteen, Stella Dikos arrived in Richmond from Greece in an arranged marriage. She and her husband, Stavros Dikos, opened The Village, a restaurant near Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

In 1982, Stella convinced Stavros to open her namesake restaurant on Harrison Street and Grace Streets. Today, Stella's is at 1012 Lafayette Street, Richmond, VA 23221.

Stella learned how to make dishes her customers loved and, in return, she introduced them to the dishes she left behind in Greece. Stella fed her community for more than 50 years.

Stella Dikos, the matriarch of Stella’s Restaurant, died on June 28, 2024 at 82. She was one of Richmond's most tenured chefs. She made her famed spanakopita up until her last days. She had a reputation for making the best fresh-baked bread and Brunswick stew.

Stella is remembered in Richmond as a culinary legacy. She paved the way for her daughter, Katrina Giavos, who, along with her husband and business partner Johnny Giavos, has opened 13 other restaurants around Richmond.
