Reasons I love living in Richmond, Virginia

People all over the country have reasons to live where they do. I was born in Sussex County, Virginia. After I graduated from high school and college in Virginia, I lived in Piscataway, New Jersey, for 12 years. Then, I moved back to Virginia in 1980.

Here are just a few reasons I love living in Richmond, Virginia.

The seasons

I love all seasons in Virginia because of the weather and the beauty of nature. There is not as much snow in the winter as I experienced in New Jersey. The other three seasons are ideal. Spring is my favorite season.

Centrally located

Richmond, Virginia is centrally located to other historical places. It is near Petersburg, Jamestown, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, and not far from Washington, DC.

Cost of living

The cost of living in Richmond is generally reasonable in terms of housing, utilities, food, gas, and health care services.

Best schools

My two children graduated from Chesterfield Public Schools. Two of my grandchildren are now in college at Virginia Commonwealth University, one of the best colleges in the state. I taught at several high schools and colleges in Richmond, Virginia.

Businesses

Forbes ranked Virginia as one of the best places for businesses. I found that to be true. From 1980 until today, I have owned several successful businesses in Richmond.

Restaurants

I love that Richmond has a wide selection of restaurants across the city. Whatever I have a taste for, I can either visit the restaurant or order food through Grubhub, DoorDash, or Uber Eats.

Entertainment

Richmond is known for its entertainment, whether going to a local park, to the beach, or attending a concert. Some form of entertainment is always available in the capital of Virginia.

Churches

There are churches of every denomination in Richmond. One neighborhood is called Church Hill because the community has so many churches.

Doctors and hospitals

Virginia is at the top of the charts regarding health care. Virginia Commonwealth Medical College of Virginia in Richmond is one of the best hospitals in the state.

"Virginia is for lovers" is not just a slogan. It is a reality. Virginia really is for lovers of many things, such as those listed above.
