WRIC 8 News reported that six chickens on their way to be slaughtered fell out of the truck transporting them. They were rescued by Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC).

According to posts on RACC’s Facebook page on Wednesday, September 11 and Monday, September 16:

"Interestingly, we have 6 chickens that most likely fell off a slaughter truck. These meat chickens are very beat up. A few have big open wounds and all have road rash."

The chickens were taken to Lucks Lane Veterinary Clinic in Chesterfield County, where veterinarians worked to rehabilitate them.
