What Richmond residents spend on rent

The average rent in Richmond, Virginia is $1,513 a month, according to the latest CoStar data.

According to Axios, the new Census data shows that over a quarter of Richmond renters spend more than half their income on housing. After paying their rent, there is usually not much left for other basic needs, such as groceries and transportation.

The 2023 American Community Survey showed:

    • 42,947 of Richmond renters spend over half or more of their paycheck on rent.
    • 83,700 of Richmond renters spend 30% or more of their income on rent.

While those numbers are quite high in Richmond, they are not the highest in the state or nation. They are not the lowest either.

Richmond renters agree that it is a struggle to keep up with their rent which increases every year.

What's the average rent in the projects? They're the ones that seem to be the losing their residences. Can't they get a job or two to help pay their way. Oh yeah, after u pay a sitter to watch your 5 keeds, there wouldnt be any money left. So, don't get mad at the players, get mad at the game that U PEOPLE play to keep your freebies and Govt handouts. AND REPARATIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PAID N FULL AND ACTUALLY, YOU PEOPLE owe us: 1)Most of u don't know the name of whom ur trying to collect for nor do u have proof. 2) YOU PEOPLE OWE FOR ALL THE BLM N FLOYD PROTEST, RIOTS, LOOTING, MURDER, THE WORKS FROM 2019- THE PRESENT. 3)ALL legal assistance from our taxes. You see, they can't give you our money. All the so called freebies n Govt handouts 4) THE CLENCHER- ALL direct descendants of Africa were dark black so any of you that aren't dark black 🤔 means somewhere along the weeds, a Cracker spread his seeds and you people don't qualify.
