The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced that a Massachusetts company has issued a voluntary recall for several kinds of Lactaid milk because the products may contain trace amounts of almond, which is an undeclared item.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds risk having a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported to date.

    The recall

The recall is in 27 U.S. states, including Virginia. HP Hood LLC, is recalling five kinds of milk shipped to retailers and wholesalers between September 5 and September 18, 2024.

    • 96-ounce containers of Lactaid whole milk
    • fat-free milk
    • 2% milk
    • 1% milk
    • 2% Calcium Enriched

The recall applies to a limited number of 96 oz. plastic containers of refrigerated Lactaid milk with the code 51-4109 P2 and the Best By Date indicated on the FDA chart.

The recalled products may returned to the store where they were purchased for a full refund or exchange. Those with questions may contact Hood Consumer Affairs at 800-242-2423 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
