According to Patch Virginia, a new report listed the Top 10 Safest Cities in the United States, and one Virginia city made the list. The rankings were based on public health crises, natural disasters, crimes, mass shootings, and traffic accidents.

    About WalletHub's report

The report comes from the personal finance website WalletHub. WalletHub's study examined the most populated U.S. cities to get the rankings.

    According to WalletHub:

"Threats to safety in the U.S. come in many forms, from public health crises and natural disasters to mass shootings and traffic accidents. To determine where Americans can feel most secure, WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 41 key indicators of safety."

    Virginia Beach, Virginia

Virginia Beach in the Hampton Roads area came in at Number 10 on the list for being one of the safest cities and having the fewest assaults per capita.

Virginia cities that didn't make the Top 10 List

Chesapeake was close, but it didn't make the Top 10 List. It came in at 13. Newport News was 87th. Norfolk was 98th, and Richmond was 170th. None of the Northern Virginia cities made the list.

You’ve got to be insane to disagree with this. VB has crime, just like everywhere else on earth. At the same time, it is so sterile, suburban, and safe. It’s unreal for a city of its size. By far the safest “city” I’ve ever been to.
