Farmers and other Virginians have been standing by the information in the Farmers' Almanac since it was first published in 1818. There used to be an almanac in almost every home in Southern Virginia. They were once given away at the beginning of every year with a new calendar. The publication isn't free today. Virginians don't mind purchasing one because they rely on the information for farming, planting a garden, and weather predictions.

    This winter's weather

Winter will likely start a bit early. The official start of winter is December 21. Cold temperatures will arrive in Virginia closer to December 1.

Winters in Virginia are not the same every year. Sometimes, the weather is mild, and sometimes there are freezing temperatures. According to the Farmers' Almanac, Virginia will see its fair share of bone-chilling weather this winter with precipitation. Therefore, Virginians can expect the 2024-2025 winter to be cold and damp.

    Two different publications

The Farmers' Almanac and The Old Farmer's Almanac are not the same. Each publication uses its own formulas for its seasonal outlooks.
