Today, especially in Williamsburg, pineapples are a traditional part of the Christmas holiday décor, serving as an ongoing symbol for Virginia and a sign of welcome.

    Explaining where Virginians are from

When Virginians are asked where they are from, they will never stop at saying the city without giving a detailed explanation. They will not say "from Virginia." They will add, "Northern Virginia to be exact."
