Two Ways to Celebrate the Roaring Twenties for New Year’s Eve in Seattle

The roaring twenties is a popular theme for New Year’s Eve this year. After nearly two years of pandemic lockdowns, uncertainties, and isolation, many people are ready to party.

The 1920s were characterized by wealth, glamor, and excess, among other things, and two high-end parties happening in Seattle for the New Year’s Eve celebration lean into that history. These are opportunities to attend a celebration in costume.

The New Year’s Eve party at the Smith Tower is an homage to the speakeasies of the 1920s. Attendees are encouraged to dress the part, so expect flapper dresses and suits. The party is being held up in the Observatory, and as of this writing, there are only 4 seats at the bar available. Everything else has sold out. This is a popular celebration.

Bar seats cost $250 each, and include a five-course dinner, two cocktails and a glass of champagne, and party favors. There will be live music and a photo booth.

The King Street Ballroom & Perch in Pioneer Square is transforming into Gatsby’s Penthouse for their New Year’s Eve celebration, and attendees are traditionally dressed to the nines. The party includes prepaid drinks from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., casino games, prices, DJs, and multiple party rooms.

The venue is attached to the Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel, so if you’d rather not hit the streets after the party, you might be able to book a room.

General admission tickets are $279 plus fees and VIP passes are $325 plus fees.

Both parties will require attendees to wear face coverings.
