19 Cent Dick’s Burgers Are Back With a Twist

Most years Dick’s Drive-In Restaurant celebrates it anniversary with a special sale of 19 cent burgers. The price is a throwback to the original price of a hamburger when the wildly popular local chain first opened its doors in Wallingford in 1954.

68 years later there are now eight restaurants in the Puget Sound region and the burgers are a little more expensive, but not by much in terms of inflation over the years. A regular hamburger now costs $2.00, unless you’re buying one on Capital Hill, Queen Anne, or from the food truck, in which case you’ll pay an extra 10 cents.

The most expensive item on the menu, the often-ordered Deluxe, is $4.35, or $4.50 at the food truck or the two pricier locations.

But, from Tuesday, March 29th, through Thursday, March 31st, the price of a hamburger is rolled back to the good old days, depending on location. The twist on the celebration this year is that you can only get the burgers at specific locations on specific days.

Tuesday, 3/29: Wallingford and Queen Anne

Wednesday, 3/30: Lake City, Holman Rd, and Bellevue Crossroads

Thursday, 3/31: Edmonds and Kent

Consistently high and growing demand for 19 cent days led to the change. It was getting hard to keep up, but staggering the days and locations will mean being able to meet the demand.

You can only get one hamburger for yourself, and only in person, but if you walk up with a group or family, you can order and pay for everyone in the group. You won’t be able to order for someone sitting in a car – everyone has to walk up to the window.
