2 Really Big Seafood Festivals Coming Up

    2023-10-01

Crabs and oysters are on the menu at two very big seafood festivals happening the weekend of October 6th through the 8th. You can choose which one to attend based on location and seafood affinity, or make an epic weekend of it. One is located in Port Angeles and the other in Shelton, so there’s likely to be some driving involved.

Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival – Port Angeles

Last year, 8 tons of fresh crab was served up at this popular festival. Of course that’s not the only seafood available, but it’s the star of the show. It’s so popular that organizers highly recommend preordering a crab dinner online because they do sell out.

As with all festivals, this one includes a zone just for kids, music, arts & crafts, and lots of food and drink. The US Coast Guard Search & Rescue will put on a demonstration and there’s a 5K fun run. Plenty of parking is available – check the website for details.

    OysterFest – Shelton

Also known as the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championship and Washington State Seafood Festival, over 6,000 oysters are served up here every year. Think you have what it takes to compete in an oyster shucking competition? There will be cash prizes and a chance to advance to the national competition.

There will be music, a microbrew garden and wine pavilion, a 5K run/walk, lots of food and things for kid to do, and local vendors and displays. You can also bring an RV or tent and make a weekend of it. Attendance for two is included in a camping reservation and there’s lots of hiking and activities in the area.
