The International Quilt and Fiber Arts Festival Has Lots of Workshops

    2023-10-03

Quilting is the star of the show at the International Quilt and Fiber Arts Festival, and many pieces of quilting art will be on display, but other fiber arts will also be featured. If you’ve always wanted to learn about quilting or another fiber art, this is the place to be.

Held on October 6th through the 8th, the festival, put on by the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Arts Museum, takes place at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center in Everett. The address is 2000 Hewitt Ave. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

You can take a special guided tour of the show an hour before the doors open, meeting with quilters and learning about the process of displaying and judging. One of the festival judges will be among those leading the tour. The cost for the tour is $24.

The cost of admission in $15, and if you want to attend a workshop, costs are around $55, depending on the class and whether or not you’re a member. Lectures are considerably cheaper. Workshops include wool applique, slow stitching, crazy quilts, and darning. Check the website for a full list of lecture and workshops, and how to register.

Quilters from around the country and world come to compete and display, and this is a big deal in the fiber arts world.
