Healthcare isn’t cheap and if you don’t have health insurance it’s often out of reach. Even if you do have health insurance, deductibles and co-pays can make you put off getting needed care when you have important bills to pay. If any of this applies to you, the largest free healthcare clinic in the state is coming up.

The Seattle/King County Clinic is happening at the Seattle Center in the Fisher Pavilion from February 15th through the 18th. That’s 4 days to get free medical, dental, and vision care. Social workers and people who can help with health insurance will also be on hand.

All the services are completely free and the event is run by hundreds of volunteers, from doctors and nurses to people who will escort you from station to station so you won’t get lost in the crowd. Interpreters for several languages will also be available.

Dental services include extractions, fillings and cleanings. Medical services include exams, mammograms, foot care, dermatology and acupuncture. Vision services include exams and prescription eyeglasses. Check the website for the full list of services available.

Admission tickets to the clinic are given out starting at 5:30 am each day. The ticket gets you into the clinic, and then you wait for services on a first-come, first-served basis. Depending on what you’re there for, you might have a long day ahead of you. You’re encouraged to bring food, drinks and anything else you might need for the day. You can attend more than one day, but you’ll go through the same administration process each day. You cannot receive dental and vision services on the same day.

You don’t have to be a resident of Seattle or King County and you won’t be asked to provide identification. This is for anyone who needs healthcare, no strings attached.

If you work in healthcare or want to help in other roles, check out the page for volunteers for a very fulfilling experience.
