Sweet! The Northwest Chocolate Festival Is This Weekend

I understand there are people who don’t like chocolate. I am not one of them. I adore chocolate. I’m a little obsessed with dark chocolate. So, I am beyond excited about the upcoming Northwest Chocolate Festival and all the different kinds of chocolate that will be there.

I once thought I didn’t love milk chocolate – with the exception of Hershey’s bars on S’mores, of course – but then I had a craft bar of milk chocolate and realized that like all of our food products, there are different levels and you get what you pay for. A $5 bottle of commercial wine is not the same quality as a bottle from a fine winemaker. Frozen pizza doesn’t come close to a good pizzeria. There is no mistaking a bar of quality chocolate with most commercial grocery store bars.

The festival is all about good chocolate. Not only will you see some local chocolate makers, like Fran’s, chocolatiers quite literally come from all over the world to exhibit and hold workshops. It’s a big deal in the world of chocolate.

Workshops are free with your admission ticket and cover every topic related to chocolate, from how it’s made, where it’s grown, and how to cook with it, to the science and landscapes of chocolate.

The festival takes place at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, and runs from Friday 10/4 through Sunday 10/6. Tickets start at $35 for a Sunday pass, with weekend and 3-day passes also available.
