Hamilton County secures $100 million funds
COLUMBUS –State Rep. Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) announced the June 26 passage of House Bill (HB) 2, the state’s biennial state capital budget, in both the Ohio House of Representatives and Senate. The record-setting $6.2 billion investment makes appropriations for state-owned infrastructure, colleges, universities and school districts as well as other community projects.

Police chase ended by fence
On Saturday a Sidney police officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist for an obscured license plate. The motorcyclist took off instead of pulling over. The motorcyclist led the police down Vandemark Road and Michigan Street. Speeds during the chase reached over 70 mph in town. Eventually the motorcyclist turned onto Brooklyn Avenue where they eventually went down a private drive on the 800 block of Brooklyn Avenue. The driveway had a shut fence door. Roughly 10 feet before the driveway’s fence door the motorcyclist veered sharply right off of the driveway and then smashed through a wood and wire fence that runs along the side of the driveway. The motorcyclist flipped over the handlebars as they crashed through the fence. The crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m.. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and did not sustain any serious injuries. The suspect was booked by Sidney police. There was an active warrant out for the suspect’s arrest in Miami County.

Perrysburg Twp. trustees will rebid $3.7M administration building project
The process to build a new Perrysburg Township administration building has reversed. At this week’s meeting, the trustees voted to rebid the $3.7 million project after an attorney for one of the companies that was not awarded the construction bid complained about the process. The bid had been awarded to Rudolph Libbe Inc., of Walbridge, Ohio, on June 5. “Since that time, one of the other firms has contested the proposal, saying that it had deficiencies,” said township Administrator Jon Eckel. “I have talked with our attorneys and to avoid any future problems or issues with this, we have decided that we will redraft that proposal.”
