MARIANNA, Ark. — Two bodies were found in a lake in Marianna, Arkansas, officials say.

According to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, two male bodies were found Friday afternoon in Bear Creek Lake.

Officials have identified the bodies as a 51-year-old man and a 28-year-old man. Officials have not released other details at this time, but it is believed the two men may have been father and son.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission says it was notified about two missing men Thursday afternoon. Officials are still investigating how the men drowned.

Bear Creek Lake is an area known as a popular tourist spot to spend time out on the water. According to its website, there are nearly half a million visitors each year to the Lee County park known for its camping, hiking, fishing, biking, and beautiful nature.

“It’s a terrible thing, it really is,” said Marianna man Harry McCraw. “I’m surprised but accidents happen. And you hear all kinds of things. There was a story going around town this morning that the plug wasn’t in the boat. I hate to hear it, this is a beautiful place and we have a lot of people from a lot of places coming out here. So I’m surprised.”
