    UPDATE 1:46 a.m., Feb. 28:
The car fire has been extinguished.

The fire “had a small extension into the garage and the eaves” of the home, according to Maricopa Fire Battalion Chief Nathan Maxcy, who said crews were able to stop the spread before it “involved the house.”

There were no injuries, Maxcy said.

Neighbor Milford Alaman said he and his wife started hearing “pops” from the fire just before 12 a.m. “There were so many flames,” Alaman said.

“The fire department did an excellent job” Alaman added.
