County takes turn with MCG roadwork between both city limits

Call it a city line-to-city line road project that could raise some hackles in temperatures baking road lizards at more than 110 degrees.

It’s roadwork that motorists might be best advised to avoid, starting Thursday and running through Tuesday.

Pinal County roadworkers will chip seal, fog seal and re-stripe the county’s mile-and-a-quarter stretch of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway, making for sometimes sluggish travel conditions.

“There will probably be delays of about 10 to 15 minutes,” county development services spokesman Ray Telles said. “Work will involve lane restrictions and flagger operations, which may cause delays.”

Asked if any detour has been set up, Telles said, “I don’t know how they would. There is no detour plan because it goes through several different jurisdictions.”

Telles describes the project as “pavement preservation.”

The county road talker advises motorists to “use caution when driving in work zones.”
