Ice cream shop to make ’31 Flavors’ comeback

For more than a decade, Maricopa ice cream afficionados have needed to trek to the Valley for a scoop of Jamoca Almond Fudge or Mom’s Makin’ Cookies. But not for much longer.

Phoenix-based commercial real estate developer Viaone announced last week it will bring Baskin-Robbins back to Maricopa next year, this time at the Sonoran Creek shopping center at John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road.

Conrad Wilkerson, retail advisory director for Viaone, said in a LinkedIn post the Canton, Mass.-based ice cream shop is projected to open in the first quarter of 2025 next door to Sprouts Farmers Market.

This is the second ice cream storefront to tap Maricopa in the past year. Cold Stone Creamery announced its arrival in November and last month confirmed it would bring its creamy concoctions to the city by the end of summer.

Baskin-Robbins first came to Maricopa in August 2005 at 20924 N. John Wayne Pkwy. In 2008, local resident Tammy Adams took over as the store’s franchise owner until it closed permanently five years later.

The next closest store is in West Chandler on Chandler Boulevard near 40th Street
