City detours Santa Rosa Springs traffic to Sonoran Desert Parkway

A contractor for the City of Maricopa closed the Iron Point Road entrance into Santa Rosa Springs today, beginning a project that will mill out and repave the segment from North Porter Road to Maderas Lane.

City officials say the project is scheduled to be completed at the end of Thursday.

This morning, cars leaving via Manderas were taking a city detour left to Dante Way to Sonoran Desert Parkway, then back up North Porter Road. Motorists also have the option of taking a right on Sonoran Desert Parkway to its intersection with North John Wayne Parkway.

It’s about 2.5-mile if you live deep within that small community’s confines off Manderas.

“Travelers will experience periods of inconvenience while the contractor is milling out the existing pavement and installing new pavement, and re-striping the roadway,” said city spokesperson Monica Williams.

The detour is basically a loop around the Santa Rosa Springs.

Repaving is also taking place until Friday on North Porter Road from Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway to just past Iron Point Road, south of the railroad tracks.

The roadwork is two places is making for a chaotic scene between Porter and Iron Point roads.
