If you’ve missed the luminous rocket plume blazing across Maricopa’s skies at dusk, tonight may be your night.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket takes off from California’s Vandenburg Air Force Base at 7:39 p.m. for a low-orbit, 14,000-mile-per-hour streak around the globe. Backup opportunities are tentatively scheduled until 11:24 p.m.

If the launch is not successful today, officials say they will try again at 6:13 p.m. tomorrow.

The rocket’s payload: a batch of 22 Starlink V2 Mini satellites, which are used for better global TV reception.

Two other launches for Elon Musk’s Starlink space array have taken place in recent months, both of which were highly visible over Maricopa.
