Search party for missing teen prepares for the worst

Tortosa teen Talesa Predmore went missing Jan. 1 . She has never been found.

Talesa’s mother, Shannon Predmore, hired a Phoenix private investigator June 10 with hopes he and his team would be able to find her lost daughter.

“I haven’t had any leads at all since we started,” Search & Rescue/Missing Person Private Investigator Chris Castorena told InMaricopa .

Castorena is organizing a “search party” ahead of a citywide “ search event ” starting at Christ’s Church of the Valley , 19475 N. Porter Road, at 4 p.m. Saturday.

“We’re going to be handing out about 500 flyers,” Castorena said.

The search party will knock on doors and visit local businesses to raise awareness about the missing 17-year-old.

“Maybe she’s hiding in a house or something, but she has to be seen somewhere,” Castorena said.

He tells attendees to wear comfortable shoes and bring sunscreen, a hat and water.

“We believe she’s still in Maricopa, and we’re hoping she’s still in Maricopa,” Castorena said. “If not, something bad happened to her.”

Castorena said in the “worst-case scenario,” he will search for Talesa in the desert with a drone and off-roading equipment, “going into the mountains and desert fields.”

“Her whole family misses her and they just want a call,” he said.

When Predmore turns 18 next Friday, she will no longer be a missing child case, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. However, Castorena said he will continue searching for her until she is found regardless.

“Even if she calls me and says, you know, ‘Hey, I don’t want to be found. Just tell mom I love her,’ that’s good as long as she’s alive,” he said. “Right now, we’re worried about that part.”

Castorena noted in many other cases, he normally receives leads on where a child has been seen.

“In this one, we have not had any leads,” Castorena said.
