If any of you Maricopa murderinos are looking for a true crime story close to home, you’re in luck.

True crime comedy podcast Small Town Murder highlighted the 2016 murder of Michael Agerter by his former girlfriend Kathryn Sinkevitch in an episode last month. Small Town Murder has more than 250,000 combined followers between Facebook, Instagram and X, formerly Twitter.

Titled “ Cold Blooded Obsession ,” the 75-minute episode details the couple’s troubled relationship — Sinkevitch physically abused Agerter, stole his dog and might have tried to burn down his Rancho El Dorado home before she eventually murdered him in his garage on Dec. 16, 2016.

It’s not the first time Agerter’s murder has been featured on a national show. Oxygen’s “Snapped” and Investigation Discovery’s “The Murder Tapes ” each highlighted the crime in 2022.

The crime was also covered locally by Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer on a March episode of his Courtroom Chronicles podcast, titled “ The Paternity Test Tragedy .” However, it’s safe to say the Small Town Murder hosts are a little unorthodox when discussing the crime.

In true crime comedy podcast fashion , hosts James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman intersperse riffs and quips between the grisly details of the gruesome murder. This includes introducing the city with locals’ complaints about State Route 347 being a “death trap,” the lack of sit-down restaurants and even banter about Wild West Music Fest as the only thing to do in town.
