PHOENIX (AP) — A temporary election worker accused of computer tampering in Arizona’s largest county has been charged with additional crimes. Walter Ringfield was charged with third-degree burglary and criminal trespassing after prosecutors say he stole several items while walking through a secure area of the Arizona Legislature on June 15, according to an indictment filed last week.

I was upset to learn that Maricopa County Parks and Recreation made the decision to close the Joe Foss Shooting Range in the Buckeye Hills Regional Park to the public and transition the complex to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) for their exclusive use.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued an excessive heat warning for Maricopa County starting at 12:14 a.m. July 7. The warning expires at 3 p.m. July 7. The National Weather Service in Tucson also issued an excessive heat warning for Pima County starting at 1:18 a.m. July 7. Pima's excessive warning expires at 8 p.m. on July 9.
Homeless Killed At Alarming Rate in Arizona's Maricopa County
The night James Cruz disappeared, his sister knew something was wrong. Cruz had been living in Tempe, Arizona’s ‘River Bottom’ homeless encampment for years. Known to his friends as “Cruz,” the 56-year-old was often seen riding around town on his bicycle or attending weekly community picnics on Tuesday evenings. Cruz’s sister Rashel said that, despite his yearslong battle with addiction and homelessness, her brother was trying to get back on his feet. He had begun spending most nights on her couch, arriving by 9 p.m. and leaving in the morning, the Appeal reports. One night in April 2022, Cruz didn’t come. He didn’t call as usual. Rashel’s panicked stream of phone calls went unanswered. She reported him missing. A few days later, the police knocked on her door. “As soon as I answered it, I knew,” said Rashel, who asked that her last name be withheld out of fear of retaliation. “I just knew. It hit me before I even opened the door that he was gone.”
