    Solicitor General Makia Metzger Town Hall

    Solicitor General Makia Metzger will have a Town Hall meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the East Cobb Regional Library, 4880 Lower Roswell Road, Suite 510 B in Marietta.

    Homemade Cleaning Products for Beginners

    The Vinings Library, 4290 Paces Ferry Road SE in Vinings, will have Homemade Cleaning Products for Beginners from 2 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 28.

    Have you ever felt sick after using traditional household cleaning products? This discussion will explore the reasons behind it and discuss how these chemicals affect one's health and the environment.

    Opioid Abatement Advisory Council Public Meeting

    The Opioid Abatement Advisory Council will have a public meeting at 2 p.m. on Aug. 28 in the Cobb & Douglas Public health Boardroom, Building A, 1650 County Services Parkway in Marietta.

    Creative Studios: Paint The Music

    The Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, will have Creative Studios: Paint The Music from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 28.

    In this program, participants will be given a small sized canvas, paint, brushes and some music to paint to. Participants can paint whatever the music makes them feel.     Rain Garden Work Day

    The Cobb County Water System’s Wildlife and Rain Garden, 662 South Cobb Drive in Marietta, will have a Rain Garden Work Day for volunteers from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 29.

    This demonstration garden showcases ways one can transform their landscape into an urban/suburban sanctuary. The weekly workday includes a quick site tour and orientation as well as basic garden training on how to install and maintain plantings.

    Android Basics

    The Switzer Library, 266 Roswell Street in Marietta, will have Android Basics from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.

    Sweetwater Ukulele Program

    The Sweetwater Valley Library, inside the Threadmill Complex at 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 100 in Austell, will have the Sweetwater Ukulele Program from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Aug. 31.

    The West Georgia Ukulele Ensemble, in partnership with the library, have donated ukuleles for library patron usage. The ukuleles are available for one week checkouts from the library. The ukuleles are not eligible to be placed on hold or transferred to other library branches. On Saturdays, a member of the Ensemble will provide lessons to those interested in the program room.

    Creative Studios: Songwriting Workshop

    The Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center, 2051 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta, will have Creative Studios: Songwriting Workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 3.

    Whether one is a new musician, a seasoned songwriter or somewhere in between, the songwriting workshop is a chance to get perspective and encouragement from fellow artists. The monthly workshop meet-up will include some exercises to hone one’s songwriting craft and bring in works-in-progress for feedback and fine-tuning.

    Participants should bring something to write with and their accompanying instrument of choice. All styles, genres and experience levels welcome. The workshop is for ages 13 and up. Some mature themes may be discussed.

    6th Annual Health and Wellness Experience: NEXT LEVEL

    Word of Faith Cathedral’s 6th Annual Health and Wellness Experience: NEXT LEVEL will be Sept. 14 at the Riverside Epicenter, 135 Riverside Parkway in Austell.

    The day will kick off with a special session led by Dr. Alduan Tartt, a renowned faith-based psychologist, who will speak on “Calm in the Chaos” at 9 a.m. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. Registration for the session is required.

    After the session, the Health and Wellness Experience will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering a wide range of services and resources, including healthcare organizations, self-care and hair care specialists, suicide prevention, domestic violence support, youth scholarships and job opportunities, first aid, nursing, pregnancy and baby care, child development, mental health resources, CPR demonstrations, herbal and natural products, real estate advice, nutrition, senior care, HIV awareness, fitness, spa services, gut health, fibroids, prostate and Alzheimer’s information and non-invasive cardiology.

    Kids can enjoy a bouncy house and high school students can participate in a Youth Financial Empowerment session. Spaces are limited. Registration is required.
