MARIETTA — Gas South has selected six nonprofit organizations as finalists for its second annual Impact Investment Award. The two winning organizations will each receive a $100,000 donation to support their missions.

The competition is part of Gas South’s goal to help support children and families in need.

“It’s exciting to see our customers and the community join us in our effort to serve others, as they learn more about our Impact Award finalists,” Gas South President and CEO Kevin Greiner said in a statement.

Nonprofit finalists will compete for votes from the public to secure the grant. The two organizations with the highest number of votes will each receive a $100,000 reward.

The six finalists for the awards are:

Hope for Youth Inc. (HYPE) - Hope for Youth’s HYPE Project aims to help girls of color enhance their technology skills to help them become leaders in the tech industry. The organization hopes to use the grant money to expand its after school program during the 2024-25 school year. Tommy Nobis Center - The Tommy Nobis Center in Marietta seeks to help youth and young adults living with disabilities find employment throughout the metro Atlanta area. If awarded the money, the center will use the grant to help develop a new education and training center. RE:Imagine - RE:Imagine looks to help disadvantaged youth of Atlanta receive opportunities for careers in the film and creative media industry. The team will use the grant money to help grow and expand its after-school program. Mosaic Georgia - Mosaic Georgia aims to help support children, teens, and adult victims of sexual violence through crisis intervention and advocacy, counseling, and medical forensic care. The organization is asking for $50,000 from Gas South to support its efforts. Lekotek of Georgia - Lekotek of Georgia is dedicated to providing inclusivity for children with disabilities by providing toys, technology, information, and accessible play. If given the opportunity, the nonprofit will use the award money to help fund the purchase of additional toys, equipment and other necessities. The Creative Academy - The Creative Academy, located in downtown Atlanta, teaches and prepares disadvantaged high school students for opportunities and careers in the creative arts industries. If awarded the grant, the organization will use the reward to fund the cost of workshops and events in low-income areas of Atlanta.

Finalists were selected from over 250 applicants, a record-breaking number for the competition.

Originally an internal decision by Gas South representatives, the competition’s winners became open to public vote for the first time in 2023.

Gas South now selects six finalists from organizations that aim to support children and families with basic needs, education, or illness and disabilities.

Last year’s winning organizations were Sunshine on a Ranney Day and Food4Kids .

Voting is open to the public and each individual can vote for up to two organizations.

Voting closes June 30 and the winners will be announced the week of July 8. To vote for a winner, visit the Gas South website .
