Upcoming Events at The Strand

The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square in Marietta, will have the following events:

♦ Movies at The Strand: Mamma Mia! and Margaritas! will be July 5 at 8 p.m. and July 6 at 3 p.m. The Strand will have a margarita bar to complement this big screen showing of Mamma Mia! (2008). Participants can come early for a free organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ starting a half hour before showtime.

Movies at The Strand; Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again will be July 6 at 8 p.m. and July 7 at 3 p.m. The Strand will again have a margarita bar to complement this big-screen showing of Mamma Mia! Here We Come Again (2018). Participants can come early for a free organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ starting a half hour before showtime.

♦ Shrek The Musical Jr. 2024 will be July 9 at 6:30 p.m., July 10 at 6:30 p.m. and July 11 at 6:30 p.m. Shrek The Musical JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. Limited tickets for each show.

♦ Disney Movie Series: Beauty and The Beast Sing Along (1991) will be July 10 at 10 a.m. for a sensory friendly screening and July 10 at 1 p.m. For the 10 a.m. screening, lights and sound are set at a comfortable 50%, subtitles are on and participants are free to talk, make noise or move around. Seating capacity is reduced to allow for more space and comfort. Participants can step out into the quiet lobby at any point for a break. For the 1 p.m. screening, participants can join 30 minutes before the film for a live pre-show concert on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ.

♦ Mothers Finest in Concert will be July 12 at 8 p.m. VIP tickets include early access seating, a post-show meet and greet, two drink tickets and a signed poster from the band.

♦ Movies at The Strand: Napoleon Dynamite (2004) will be July 13 at 8 p.m. Participants can come early for a free organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ starting a half hour before showtime.

♦ Jazz at The Strand: The Music of Cannonball Adderley will be July 14 at 4 p.m. VIP tickets include early access seating, a meet and greet with the band, two drink tickets and a signed poster from the band.

♦ Strand Academy: Audition Workshops will be July 15 at 1 p.m. for Elementary School, July 15 at 3 p.m. for Middle School, July 15 at 5 p.m. for High School, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. for Middle School and Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. for High School. In these two hour classes, students will acquire essential skills in crafting a compelling 90-second audition package. Students will have the opportunity to present their audition packages, which may include one monologue, one song or a combination of both and receive feedback. Through this experience, students will gain confidence in their auditioning abilities. Students should bring a monologue or song with a back track prepared. Students should be dressed for movement.

♦ Disney Movie Series: Finding Nemo (2003) will be July 17 at 10 a.m. for a sensory friendly screening and July 17 at 1 p.m.

♦ Banks & Shane Live in Concert will be July 19 at 8 p.m. VIP tickets include a private pre-show mini-concert, early access to seating, two drink tickets and a poster signed by the band.

♦ Slippery When Wet: The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute will be July 20 at 8 p.m. VIP tickets include a private pre-show mini-concert, early access to seating, two drink tickets and a poster signed by the band.

♦ Silent Film at the Strand: Wings (1927) With Live Organ Accompaniment will be July 21 at 3 p.m. The film also features an organ pops pre-show concert beginning thirty minutes before showtime.

♦ Disney Movie Series: Frozen II (2019) will be July 24 at 10 a.m. for a sensory friendly screening and July 24 at 1 p.m.

♦ Movies at The Strand: Hedwig and The Angry Inch (2001) on July 26 at 8 p.m. Participants can come early for a free organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ starting a half hour before showtime.

Cobb Idol: Rock ‘N’ Roll Royalty Edition will be July 27 at 8 p.m. The Strand is continuing its tradition of producing Cobb Idol, a live concert competition where the best voices in Cobb battle it out for the chance to be named this year’s Cobb Idol. ♦ The Strand will also have its first ever Dinner & Benefit Concert during Cobb Idol. The special evening includes experiences such as a sponsor dinner, a pre-show dessert course, a VIP pre-concert experience and the benefit performance itself.

♦ Sunday Folk: How Sweet It Is! Steve Leslie Sings James Taylor will be July 28 at 3 p.m. VIP tickets include early access seating, a pre-show mini-concert, a meet and greet, two drink tickets and a signed poster.

♦ Jukebox Giants: Motown & More will be Aug. 9 at 8 p.m., Aug. 10 at 3 and 8 p.m., Aug. 11 at 3 p.m., Aug. 16 at 8 p.m., Aug. 17 at 3 and 8 p.m., Aug. 18 at 3 p.m., Aug. 23 at 8 p.m., Aug. 24 at 3 and 8 p.m. and Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. Jukebox Giants: Motown & More is a song and dance musical revue featuring the most popular hits of the Motown era and beyond.
