    Marietta Man Accused of Attempting to Drown Woman

    A Marietta man is accused of attempting to drown a woman.

    William Connor Wilmot, 21, is accused of attempting to drown a woman on June 25 at 8:40 p.m. in Lake Acworth at Cauble Park, according to an arrest warrant from the Acworth Police Department.

    Wilmot is accused of admitting to pushing the victim into the lake, knowing she could not swim. The victim stated Wilmot kicked her in the back and into the water. He then jumped into the water, grabbed her by the neck and continued to dunk her head under about 3-4 times. The victim said she had to grab Wilmot’s hair to make him stop, according to the warrant.

    Police observed several fresh red scratches to the victim’s neck and red marks to her right knuckles. The victim told police her hands had hit various rocks while her arms were underwater. A witness said they heard splashing in the area and heard the victim making noises that sounded like she was struggling to breath, according to the warrant.

    The victim also said that Wilmot took her bag that contained her phone, wallet and ID and submerged it in the lake. Police could not locate the bag. The victim told police that she had been in a romantic relationship with Wilmot for four years and they lived together, according to the warrant.

    Wilmot is charged with battery substantial physical harm; and aggravated assault – intent to murder. He was arrested on June 25 at 9:31 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

    Wilmot remains in custody without bond.
