    Additional College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship Winners

    National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced over 800 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities.

    These Merit Scholar designees join over 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June.

    Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution.

    College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

    Local winners are:

    Sydney M. McCune of Kennesaw, a student at Mount Paran Christian School, received the National Merit Clemson University Scholarship. McCune’s probable career field is healthcare.Kadrian M. Barnett of Marietta, a Hillgrove High School student, received the National Merit Fordham University Scholarship. Barnett’s probable career field is public policy.Hunter J. Buchheit of Marietta, a Walton High School student, received the National Merit Emory University Scholarship. Buchheit’s probable career field is law.Paul W. Trotti III of Marietta, an Alan C. Pope High School student, and Emma J. Webb of Marietta, a Walton High School student, both received the National Merit University of Georgia Scholarship. Trotti’s probable career field is information systems management and Webb’s probable career field is chemistry.
