In the states that didn’t expand Medicaid, 1.6M can’t afford health insurance
The majority of residents in this coverage gap are people of color, an analysis found. Nearly 1 of every 5 uninsured working-age adults across the 10 states that have not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act are, according to a new analysis, stuck in a health care limbo known as a “coverage gap.” That means they earn too much money to receive Medicaid but not enough to qualify for financial help to purchase their own plan on the marketplace.

Disturbance in the Fairpark District leads to an Ecru man’s arrest

SUMMARY: On July 26, in Tupelo, Mississippi, police arrested 34-year-old Michael Shumaker after he created a disturbance outside the Toast Cocktail and Piano Bar while allegedly intoxicated. Shumaker was denied entry to the establishment and subsequently pointed a handgun at people in the parking lot. Officers quickly apprehended him and seized the firearm. He faces multiple charges, including Public Drunk, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest, and was taken to the Lee County Jail. Witnesses reported the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. during the night.
More scattered showers and thunderstorms in store for our area on our Sunday
Patchy rain and some isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms were once again the rule across our area on our Saturday. We saw a few of the thunderstorms once again on the hefty side at times. We also saw a little bit of heavy rainfall at times over portions of our area. Otherwise we saw variable cloudiness as the rule. Those areas that saw rainfall today stayed mostly in the 70s and 80s for highs. While, the areas that saw some sunshine topped off in the 90s. Those areas, also saw some heat index values well above 100 degrees at times.
