NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) announced a pair of grants this month to benefit Tims Ford and Big Hill Pond state parks. Update: Flash flood warning issued for Lamar and Marion counties early Sunday evening
On Sunday at 3:04 p.m. an updated flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 4:30 p.m. for Lamar and Marion counties. "At 3:04 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," says the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."
