Medical center has filled vital need in Perry County for 50 years
The Family Practice Center at Loysville, formerly known as Perry Health Center, is hitting a major milestone this month, celebrating its 50th anniversary. The medical facility at 1100 Montour Road has been a cornerstone of the community since construction began in May 1973. By December of that year, the first patients were received, and the center was officially dedicated in July 1974.

(WHTM) — Kokomo’s Sports Bar & Grill in Carlisle suddenly closed its doors over the weekend. abc27 news reported back in December 2023 when Kokomo’s Bar & Grill listed their sports bar on 1582 Holly Pike for sale for $1,250,000. At the time, the bar had just relocated from a space in Lewisberry that has since been taken over by a new sports bar called the Horn Pub.

Blenders are whirling at a new boba tea shop in Lower Paxton Township. Phamtastic Boba & Food opened today at 5401 Jonestown Road with an extensive and colorful beverage menu. The restaurant carries dozens of fruit teas, slushies, smoothies and milk teas along with a small food menu of Vietnamese-style chicken wings, fried rice and sandwiches.
Ben and Tim Day scholarships awarded
At a recent awards ceremony, graduating seniors from Hershey High School received scholarships funded by the annual Ben and Tim Day. Thirty-six students were presented with Ben Yupcavage and Tim Russell Memorial Scholarships. Students were selected based on academic achievement, leadership and service to community and church, as well as acceptance to an accredited four-year, two-year, or vocational institution. Each recipient received $1,000.

According to a Zillow listing, The Majestic Hawk Mansion is a “distinguished Victorian-era home” built in the 1890s. The home has a plaque from the Shippensburg Historical Society that reads “The Hawk Mansion – H.R. Hawk Esq. – Built 1893-1898.”
