KP's Fine Meats is Opening a Second Location in Chestnut Hill

Following the closure of Rice’s Quality Meats, an 18-year tenant at Market at the Fareway, owners Ron and Abby Pete worked with the Retail Advocate from the Chestnut Hill Business Improvement District to find a replacement. Together, they began the extensive search for a skilled and community-minded butcher who demonstrated a focus on customer service and is well-known and regarded by Philadelphia chefs and restaurant owners.

KP’s Fine Meats, based in Port Richmond, brings a contemporary approach to the business and the entrepreneurial know-how and experience to be successful. Kevin Penney, the owner, has run the operation for over four years and is recognized for stocking stellar-quality beef, veal, pork, and lamb cuts.

Shoppers will soon enjoy a rotating inventory with a wide selection of seasonal items while mainstays like chip steak, pork chops, and thick-cut bacon remain constant. KP’s Fine Meats also stocks specialty items from some of Philadelphia’s most exciting and tasty restaurants, including Tabachoy (Longanisa), Middle Child Clubhouse (Secret Burger Blend), and Korea Taqueria (Korean bulgogi beef skewers).

In addition to fine hand-selected cuts of meat, available only at the forthcoming Chestnut Hill location, will be selections from Fishtown Seafood, including a variety of oysters, mignonettes, shuckers, salmon filets, tuna steaks, shrimp, and scallops. Fishtown Seafoods offers high-quality, low-impact, transparent sourcing for all its products and complements the offerings by KP’s Fine Meats, making the location a one-stop shop for foodies.

There will also be cooking oils, seasonings, marinades, and more available for purchase.

The Chestnut Hill location is expected to open in late September or early October; please visit kpsfinemeats.com for more information, including store hours.
